"Sine" Me Up...The Life Sine Curve Philosophy

In high school I was never very good at math. I always wondered how certain things would pertain to my life. Well, this summer I found a very applicable place for the Sine Curve. For those of you who are like me and hated math, the Sine Curve is the wavy line that goes up and down...sound familiar?

I'm willing to bet that if you could give the events in your life a quantitative value and begin plotting these on a grid, your life would create a Sine Curve. Take a random year, think about it. Did that year have some pretty amazing times? How about some times where it just seemed like everyday was the same? Or our favorite, the times when life seemed to hit an all time new low. I really believe that it doesn't matter what year in your life you reflect on, there will always be one constant and that's the fact that life will go up and life will go down.

I have been very excited to begin to really start to understand and believe in this philosophy. I have to give a shout out to my friend and co-worker Kimi who taught the people on my sales team and myself this! It's really put life into perspective and has helped me keep a good emotional range. Knowing that life is a continuing sine curve, when things go really well I still get excited but I also acknowledge that I'm on top of my sine. I don't expect to come down, but I'm forced to stay a bit more humble. On the flip side when it seems like everything is going wrong, looking at the sine curve reminds me that eventually if I just keep at it, I am going to climb up and I'll have my day.

So take a look at where you are in life. Perhaps things are going great! That's awesome, congrats for you, but stay focused and keep moving forward trying to improve and really enjoy what's going on around you. But perhaps things just aren't falling into place for you. Keep your head up, there's only on way to go when your at the bottom of the sine cure...and that's up! Good luck!!!

No problem :) The sine curve can suck when you're at the bottom...but hope lies in knowing that the curve will always go back up :)

This post really helped me with a big problem in my life. I was on the low end of the sine curve but knowing that things could only get better i went for it :D

Build a Bridge

What am I doing? I'm building a door. It's a big door, stretching so high I can't reach the top. It will extend from way over there on that side all the way over there on the other side. You are probably wondering what kind of door I am buidling. It's not an ordinary door with a wood frame and a wooden sill, hinges, a door knob, and all the things that ordinary doors have. No, this door is no ordinary door at all. You see, my door is made out of brick, bricks that are heavy and firm and strong. I can visualize the bricks being black or blue. Each brick has holes in it. You know the kind we liked to stick our fingers in when we were kids. Normally these bricks are used with mortar filling in the holes to give the finished product extra strength. Why Today Rocked!!!

Alright, so I tried really hard to make this a video post buuuut was terribly unsuccessful. I'm still going to share with you why today rocked. The weather was awesome! I don't know what it was like else where, but here in Appleton WI it was sunny and mid 40s. Perfect running weather! Starbucks has the greatest coffee of the day right now. It's called "Tribute Blend" and it freaking rocks. I'm a huge coffee drinker so a good cup of coffee is a great way for me to start off the day. It's almost the weekend! Who doesn't love love the weekend?  The challenges of the day. Today was ridiculously challenging. First it took me a good hour to get secure enough to start taping myself talking. Then it took another good hour or so to say the things I was trying to say the right way. Finally it took 2 hours for me to try and post the video before I had to accept defeat.
