The Purpose of Life

Since the very beginning man has asked the question, "what is the purpose of life?" Well perhaps the purpose of life is “to test to the limits of the human heart.” –Bill Bowerman, Without Limits
It’s to love even at the risk of not being loved back. Take on a task bigger than you knowing you might fail. Push yourself to the brink and collapse! It’s time to stop playing it safe because by doing so we’re holding ourselves back from such an amazing life.

Now is the time to see what you're capable of, because what we do in life, echoes in eternity.” –Maximumus, Gladiator

And this means you can be a positive influence in the world around you. You have it in you to be the inspiration for another. All you have to do is “live by the ABC’s; Adventurous, brave, creative.” –Walter Mitty, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty

Or you can do nothing, but I can only imagine there is little worse than looking back on your life and having to say to yourself, “I have done nothing. And for that I am ashamed.” –Benjamin Martin, The Patriot

The opportunities for adventure are all around you and you can't let the possibility of failure stop you. because if you do, no one will remember your name.” –Achilles, Troy

And IF “you’ve got a dream you’ve got to protect it.” –Christopher Gardner, The Pursuit of Happyness
Don’t let others decide if you get to live out your dreams or not. There isn’t a person in this world who has the right to tell another to give up on a dream. It’s no one’s right to choose your dreams. The choice is 110% up to you of what your dreams can and will be.

You can choose what you want to be and where you want to live, but the home we seek resides not in some distant land, it's in us, and in our actions on this day!” –Arthur, King Arthur
Build in yourself a calm, self-sustaining happiness. Find the balance of being content with who you are now and working towards who you can become.

Work each and every day towards becoming a better person and remember, “there is no tomorrow, there is no tomorrow.” –Apollo Creed, Rocky III

“I’ll work out tomorrow,” “I’ll start planning that trip tomorrow,” “I’ll go talk to that boy/girl tomorrow.” Stop putting your life off until tomorrow! Start living it now because the truth is we are all running out of tomorrows. By living for tomorrow, you aren’t creating the life of your dreams, you're creating a life of regret. Make it happen today!

Learn from the people that have experienced success. “They are an intriguing people. From the moment they wake they devote themselves to the perfection of whatever they pursue.” –Algren, The Last Samurai

Whatever it is you decide to do with your life, become a master of it. Spend your days constantly studying and learning how to improve upon your trade. Read books, listen to podcasts, take classes, and practice. Align your choices with your purpose and work tirelessly on your cause.

Now go get what’s yours. Only you can decide to live out your passion. Don’t wait for the “right time,”  “This is your time. Now go out there and take it.” –Herb Brooks, Miracle

LIVE it Up,

Zach

The Starfish Story

The Starfish Story Original Story by: Loren Eisley One day a man was walking along the beach when he noticed a boy picking something up and gently throwing it into the ocean.  Approaching the boy, he asked, “What are you doing?” The youth replied, “Throwing starfish back into the ocean.  The surf is up and the tide is going out.  If I don’t throw them back, they’ll die.” “Son,” the man said, “don’t you realize there are miles and miles of beach and hundreds of starfish?  You can’t make a difference!” After listening politely, the boy bent down, picked up another starfish, and threw it back into the surf.  Then, smiling at the man, he said…” I made a difference for that one.” Are there starfish in your life that are washed up on shore? Is there one person in your life who you could influence for the better? We all have a responsibility to help each other out. Never tell yourself that what you do doesn't make a difference, because to one it could make all the...

Build a Bridge

What am I doing? I'm building a door. It's a big door, stretching so high I can't reach the top. It will extend from way over there on that side all the way over there on the other side. You are probably wondering what kind of door I am buidling. It's not an ordinary door with a wood frame and a wooden sill, hinges, a door knob, and all the things that ordinary doors have. No, this door is no ordinary door at all. You see, my door is made out of brick, bricks that are heavy and firm and strong. I can visualize the bricks being black or blue. Each brick has holes in it. You know the kind we liked to stick our fingers in when we were kids. Normally these bricks are used with mortar filling in the holes to give the finished product extra strength. In my door I'm laying bricks on their side so that the holes provide little spaces to see through. When I'm finished my door will be permanent. There will be no door handle on either side. In order for my door to open, ...

Why Today Rocked!!!

Alright, so I tried really hard to make this a video post buuuut was terribly unsuccessful. I'm still going to share with you why today rocked. The weather was awesome! I don't know what it was like else where, but here in Appleton WI it was sunny and mid 40s. Perfect running weather! Starbucks has the greatest coffee of the day right now. It's called "Tribute Blend" and it freaking rocks. I'm a huge coffee drinker so a good cup of coffee is a great way for me to start off the day. It's almost the weekend! Who doesn't love love the weekend?  The challenges of the day. Today was ridiculously challenging. First it took me a good hour to get secure enough to start taping myself talking. Then it took another good hour or so to say the things I was trying to say the right way. Finally it took 2 hours for me to try and post the video before I had to accept defeat. Still, on the positive side I am now good to go with videoing myself talking! Hopefully th...
